Standard layouts. Changing inventory. Reliable fulfillment for both.
Whether you run five standard plate layouts or a new specification every day, the material behind each request keeps changing.
For every request, Xavo works out which tubes to use, how much to transfer, where the material is and what has to be prepared first. Standard runs stay standard, and exceptions no longer mean manual work. From compound libraries and assay-ready plates to customer-specific sample preparation.

Your layouts may be standard. Your samples never are.
Most sample operations run on a handful of well-defined formats. That is good practice - and it does not make the work repeatable.
Which containers still hold enough volume? What has been depleted, reserved or moved? Which material sits at another site or with a CRO? Every run answers these questions differently, even when the output looks exactly like last week.
That is where manual checking, spreadsheets and rework come from.
The same configured process handles every run.
- Check availability across sites and containers
- Select the right sources
- Calculate transfers, dilutions and layouts
- Prepare, label and ship
- Track the result and update inventory
Running mostly standard layouts? That is exactly where Xavo starts. And when a request does fall outside the standard, it is handled by the same process instead of a new workaround.
What changes with Xavo?
Every request turns into manual work.
- Requirements are interpreted by hand for every request
- Someone searches for usable source containers
- Volumes are checked manually against the request
- Transfers and dilutions are calculated in spreadsheets
- Intermediate plates are designed from scratch
- Equipment is chosen based on experience
- Worklists are written or adapted by hand
- Execution is coordinated by email and calls
- When something changes, the work starts over
One request, resolved end to end.
- Scientists describe the deliverable they need
- Sources are selected from current inventory and your rules
- Transfers, dilutions and plate layouts are calculated automatically
- Worklists and instructions are generated for your equipment
- Every step is tracked and traceable
- If something changes, Xavo recalculates the plan
Built around real sample operations.
Many source racks to two target plates.
Optimized transfers to fully utilize a 16-tip Varispan head.
faster execution in the referenced configuration*
Items picked in inefficient sequence and positions for downstream processing.
Calculated downstream-aware positioning.
less manual effort in the referenced workflow*
New customer or scientist requirements traditionally create additional workflow setup.
Each request’s steps are calculated from your existing rules.
less manual workflow setup compared with template-driven processes*
* Results from referenced customer implementations and configurations. Actual results vary with environment and use case.
22 source racks, two target plates, one optimized run.
Instead of picking tube by tube, Xavo plans the transfers so the liquid handler works at full capacity: the 16-tip Varispan head spreads across three source racks per cycle, aspirates only the tubes the request needs and dispenses across both 384-well target plates.
- Aspiration and dispense order calculated for each request
- Tubes that are not needed are skipped, not visited
- Worklist generated for the instrument, no scripts to maintain
Where Xavo is used today
Handle complex sample collections without losing control.
For laboratories managing large compound or sample libraries, Xavo combines inventory context with request-driven fulfillment.
- Large source inventories
- Multiple source containers per compound
- Cherry-picking
- Replication and reformatting
- Pooling / compression
- Volume depletion
- Complex plate preparation
Turn scientific requests into ready-to-use material.
Scientists should be able to describe what they need without manually designing every transfer and intermediate step.
- Target concentrations
- Different plate layouts
- Dilution series
- Intermediate plates
- Multiple source formats
- Liquid-handler-specific constraints
Your liquid handlers get worklists built for each request.
Automation alone does not resolve which work needs to happen for each sample request.
- Automated stores
- Multiple liquid handlers
- Variable source racks
- Resource availability
- Large picking operations
- Equipment-specific worklists
- Scheduling and throughput
- Better utilization of liquid-handling capabilities
- Less manual coordination
- Resource-aware execution
- Dynamic adaptation when conditions change
Support customer variation without multiplying workflows.
Service providers and compound suppliers rarely receive the exact same order twice.
- Different output formats
- Different quantities
- Different documentation
- Different labels
- Different preparation requirements
- Different downstream processes
Handle more customer variation without configuration and maintenance effort growing at the same rate.
One request layer across every site, CRO and storage partner.
Many biotechs hold their compounds and samples across in-house labs, CROs and external storage partners. Scientists should not need to know where material sits in order to request it.
- Inventory spread across sites, CROs and partners
- Inconsistent inventory data between systems
- Choosing the right source location
- Shipments, documentation and chain of custody
- Keeping inventory in sync after every move
More variation should not mean proportionally more overhead.
New request types reuse the rules you already have.
Reuse configured rules, capabilities and resources when scientists or customers need something new.
Fewer workflows to build and maintain.
Reduce the amount of request-specific process configuration teams need to build and maintain.
Turn automation capacity into actual throughput.
Use equipment capabilities, routing and transfer optimization to reduce avoidable manual and machine effort.
Replace decision-making by spreadsheet and experience with repeatable logic.
Xavo can determine sources, routes, layouts and execution instructions systematically.
Built for the gap between the request and the physical work.
Xavo doesn’t replace what already works. It sits between the systems that track what you have and the systems that do the work, and decides what each request needs.
Knows what exists.
Xavo can complement or provide this context.
Works out what to do for each request.
Carries out the work.
These boundaries can overlap depending on the customer architecture. Xavo can also participate directly in execution and automation.
Xavo works alongside your existing LIMS.
Many mature laboratories already have an established system for inventory and sample state. Xavo can use that data and add request planning, calculations, scheduling and automation where you need them.
- No automatic rip-and-replace
- Keep existing master data ownership
- Add request-specific computation
- Introduce advanced capabilities incrementally
